This 1929 Indian Scout is a beautifully restored example of the iconic American V-twin, finished in red and showing 7,905 miles indicated. It is powered by a 45-cubic-inch (750cc) side-valve V-twin engine paired with a three-speed hand-shift transmission and is offered with a matching period-style sidecar.
The Indian Scout was one of the most respected motorcycles of the interwar period, renowned for its robust engineering, smooth V-twin performance and balanced handling. The 1929 model continued the marque’s legacy with its dependable side-valve engine and rigid, lightweight frame, establishing the Scout as a mainstay of American motorcycling heritage.
This example has been in long-term ownership since August 1982, having been enjoyed and preserved for more than four decades by its current custodian. While the early ownership history is not documented, the motorcycle’s extended period with one owner has contributed significantly to its consistent maintenance and excellent condition. The bike underwent a full restoration some years ago, completed to a high standard and true to its original 1929 specification. The restoration earned recognition with a Vintage Motorcycle award and an Australian Bicentenary restoration award, reflecting its quality and authenticity.
Mechanically, the Scout is described as excellent with no known faults. The engine starts easily, runs smoothly, and the motorcycle is reportedly ready to ride. It has been serviced and maintained as required throughout current ownership, ensuring solid and reliable performance.
The exterior presents superbly for its age, with vibrant red paintwork showing only a few small touched-up chips consistent with an older restoration. The chrome and brightwork remain clean and the seat, controls, and wheels show minimal wear. The sidecar is finished to match the motorcycle and presents in similarly strong condition. The Scout remains in original specification with no modifications or accident repairs noted.
This motorcycle is currently unregistered. It will be supplied with spare head gaskets, a period parts book, and long-term ownership documentation.
