This 1972 Laverda 750 SFC is finished in Fast Orange and is powered by a 744cc air-cooled parallel twin paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Frame and engine number 11097 confirm this motorcycle as part of the final drum-brake SFC production batch, with approximately 55 units produced in the 11000 series. The SFC was Laverda’s homologation special, developed directly from endurance racing and now regarded as one of the most important production racing motorcycles of the early 1970s.

The SFC, short for Super Freni Competizione, featured extensive upgrades over the standard 750, including higher compression, revised camshaft profiles, strengthened internals and competition-focused chassis and braking components. This example represents the rare drum-brake variant, placing it among the earliest and most sought-after SFCs produced.

This motorcycle carries notable provenance. It has been owned and ridden by prominent Laverda figures including Tim Isles and John Richardson. Tim Isles is the author of Laverda 750 SFC, widely regarded as the definitive reference on the model. The bike was also featured in Classic Motorcycle magazine in the UK in November 2000, further reinforcing its period significance and documented history.

The motorcycle retains matching numbers and correct factory SFC engine stampings. Key components remain correct to the model, including the Verlicchi frame, Borrani wheels, Ceriani suspension, Bosch ignition and Carello lighting. These components have been sympathetically refurbished rather than replaced, preserving originality while ensuring presentation and functionality.

Mechanically, the bike is described as a strong-running example. The engine has been rebuilt in England and features high compression internals, an overhauled crankshaft and a rewound generator. It retains correct factory exhausts, with sensible carburettor upgrades carried out to improve usability while remaining sympathetic to the original specification. Brand new tyres have been fitted.

The motorcycle has undergone a comprehensive restoration under current ownership. Paintwork was completed professionally in the correct Fast Orange finish, wheels were rebuilt, with period-correct wiring, and appropriate components were zinc plated in the correct areas. The frame was fully stripped, sandblasted and inspected, with no issues identified. Welding and structural elements are reported to be correct.

The exterior presents to a high standard. A small mark of approximately 5 mm is noted beneath the right-hand fairing, incurred during a concours display in Ripponlea. The seat has been completely reupholstered and is in excellent condition.

The motorcycle, as intended, did not leave the factory with an ignition key or barrel. Original Bakelite push/pull switch is the ignition. Included with the sale is a comprehensive collection of documentation, including import paperwork and original registration paperwork. The bike carries the original UK number plate. No service books or manuals are supplied.

This Laverda 750 SFC has achieved multiple concours-level presentations and has been an Australian Laverda Concourse winner. It represents a rare opportunity to acquire a well-documented, correct and historically significant factory production racer with genuine period provenance.
