This 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI is restored, matching-numbers and exists as the only Australian-delivered example in Signal Yellow. It is powered by a stroked 2.8-litre air-cooled flat-six-cylinder engine which produces 179kW (240hp). Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer of this car currently shows 28,839km, however the car is known to have more than 111,000km. In 1974 Porsche brought the most comprehensive update to the 911 since the model’s launch 11 years earlier.

The redesign was intended to broaden the 911’s appeal to a wider audience by adding extra refinement, enhanced luxuries, and better practicality. It’s distinguished by body-coloured mirrors, extended chrome detailing, black-bellowed bumpers, and a full-width tail-light panel with PORSCHE script. For the first time Porsche also offered the regular 911 with the distinctive ‘ducktail’ rear spoiler. Porsche 911s of the model year 1974 are referred to as G-bodied cars. The 1974 Carrera 2.7 is mechanically identical to the iconic and valuable 1973 Porsche Carrera 2.

7 RS. Albeit, far more attainable. This example is painted in Signal Yellow and features a black vinyl and cloth interior. According to Porsche Australia, it is the only Signal Yellow Carrera 2.7 to be delivered new to Australia. From factory it was fitted with a sunroof, ducktail rear spoiler, electric windows, and Carrera stickers.

Subtle additions include 930 Turbo brakes and Turbo torsion bars for increased stability. It rides on a set of refurbished 15-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli tyres. Manufactured new by Porsche in Zuffenhausen, Germany and delivered new to Australia, this 911 has only two owners since new. It was delivered through Hamiltons Porsche in South Yarra, VIC with the current owner purchasing the vehicle in 1995. Servicing has been completed through Hamiltons initially, before moving to George Cairns and then onto Cascone Motorsports. The motor was refreshed in 2016, including new pistons and barrels, and the body was resprayed in 2013.

This Porsche’s exterior condition shows in brilliant order. The Signal Yellow paintwork shows no imperfections and the paint glosses nicely in sunlight. Black exterior trim around the windows and bumpers shows without weathering or patina. The side sill graphics present undamaged. All four wheels appear in good order without notable wear and tear. Inside the cabin this 911 presents similarly well.

The upholstery pulls taut over the seat frame and no stains or tears are seen in the upholstery. Dashboard instrumentation and gauges appear without wear and tear. The carpeting and headlining don’t contain stains, though there are some light scuffs to the lower door panel and around the steering wheel. This 911 will be sold with all accompanying books and receipts.
