This 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth is a highly collectible homologation special finished in Diamond White over a factory cloth interior. Developed to dominate Group A touring car racing, the RS500 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre Cosworth YB inline four-cylinder engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The odometer displays 29,995 miles indicated.
Built as an evolution of the already potent Sierra RS Cosworth, the RS500 was engineered to meet homologation requirements for international touring car competition. Featuring revised aerodynamics, upgraded cooling, a larger turbocharger and strengthened engine internals, the RS500 went on to become one of the most successful touring cars of its era. With only 500 examples produced globally, it remains one of Ford’s most significant performance models and a cornerstone of late-1980s motorsport history.
This example is noted by the seller as the last white RS500 built and has had two owners in Australia. The current owner has held the car for 16 years and has driven approximately 1,500 miles during that time. Servicing has been carried out by the owner, who is a mechanic by trade, with the last service completed approximately 12 months ago. A new battery has recently been fitted. No original service books are available.
Mechanically, the car starts and drives well, with strong boost and steady idle reported. The brakes are described as firm due to limited recent use, and the ABS warning light has illuminated accordingly. The engine is based on a 200 block and has been rebuilt with new pistons. It is fitted with a 3-inch exhaust system, an upgraded intercooler and an OUTRONIC engine management system, with the original factory computer and intercooler supplied. A half cage is also fitted.
The exterior paintwork is described as clean, and the interior remains original and tidy in presentation. No restoration work has been carried out during current ownership, and no accidents or resprays are known to the seller.
Included in the sale are the original key, spare wheel, dyno sheet, import papers, registration papers from England and supporting documentation.
As per Trading Garage Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage has completed the following checks, bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research they feel necessary before bidding. All listings are sold in Australian dollars. This vehicle is registered in Victoria on a club permit (40621-H) until 16/06/2026.
