This 1998 Holden Suburban 2500 LT is an honest example of a rare badge-engineered classic, with its turbo-diesel V8 engine refurbished 10 years ago. This turbo-diesel engine is a 6.5-litre Cummins V8 engine which develops 145kW and 583Nm. This power is sent through a four-speed automatic transmission to a 4x4 drivetrain. The odometer currently displays 377,617km. The Holden Suburban was little more than a rebadged Chevrolet Suburban, sold locally between 1998 and 2001 to cater to Aussie families with up to eight people. Though its ability as a people mover was useful in the Australian market, it was also a handy solution for towing, thanks to an impressive 3400kg towing limit. This was only achieved with the sturdy 6.

5-litre Cummins V8 engine under the bonnet, an optional extra at the time. The Suburban was a tourer’s dream with a huge 159-litre fuel tank. It was also presented with a high-specification for Australians, featuring leather upholstery and power-operated seats. The Holden Suburban is a rare sight on Australian roads and was sold only through select Holden dealerships. These days the model is appreciated for its unique 90s looks and strong turbo-diesel engine. Painted in dark blue with grey lower accenting, this Suburban’s colour combination suits its era. It is a long wheelbase example in LT specification.

There are few modifications made to this car, though it does feature a TJM bullbar (no compliance sticker). It rides on a set of 16-inch American Racing alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler tyres. Manufactured in the United States and delivered new to Australia through Patterson Cheney Holden in Ringwood Victoria, this Suburban shows a series of Holden and independent services. However, later servicing was performed by the owner and there is no documentation to that effect. It has reportedly undergone an engine refurbishment 10 years ago, but there is no documentation. It is understood to have had three owners overall – the last owned it for nearly 20 years. The seller notes the car needs its wipers replaced, a new fan belt (supplied), the front pinion diff has a leak, a new front-right reflector (supplied), and the left rocker cover gasket has a minor leak.

Externally, this Suburban has seen better days and marks of wear and tear are seen throughout. The dark blue paintwork shows stone chips on the door panels, side mirrors and front end, while marks are noted on the rear tailgate. It is also missing its full “Suburban” script. The bullbar shows scuff damage and would benefit from a polish, while the right-side front fog light shows a hole in the glass. Clearcoat damage and paint wear is noted on door panels. The rear glass tint is lifting. All four wheels show surface rust and wear damage.

Inside the cabin, this Suburban displays in similar order. The leather upholstery holds a good shape, though significant creasing and leather scratches are noted in the bolstering and seat bases – especially on the passenger’s side. Stains are noted on the carpeting, headlining, and arm rests. The seller says the driver’s seat has been refurbished recently. The instrumentation and controls operate as normal, but wear and tear is identified on the dashboard. This car will come with original handbooks, service documentation, and its factory audio cassette instruction manual. As per Trading Garage’s Terms and Conditions, although Trading Garage have completed the following checks, bidders must satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the description and do any research, they feel necessary before bidding.

All listings are sold in Australian dollars. There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number and it is not recorded as written off or stolen. This vehicle is currently registered in Victoria until 28/7/24.
