This 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR (CT9A) is a Japanese-market example that has remained with the same Australian owner since shortly after its importation in 2008 and is presented with its original Japanese service book. It is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged 4G63 inline four, factory rated at 206 kW (276 hp) and 400 Nm, paired with a six speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive. The odometer currently shows 95,415 km* indicated.
Introduced in 2004, the Evolution VIII MR represented a further development of Mitsubishi’s CT9A-generation performance sedan. MR revisions included an aluminium roof to lower the centre of gravity, Bilstein dampers, lighter BBS alloy wheels and detail changes to the engine, drivetrain and electronically controlled all-wheel-drive systems. Six-speed versions also received revisions to the 4G63 including changes to the intake camshaft and internal components, with factory output remaining at 206 kW while torque increased to 400 Nm.
Finished in white, this example is currently fitted with genuine Evolution VIII Enkei alloy wheels, which replaced the original MR BBS wheels at the time of purchase. Modifications include HKS 272 camshafts and adjustable cam gears, upgraded fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, a custom dump pipe, full three-inch exhaust with catalytic converter and Varex rear muffler, remapped factory ECU, upgraded coil packs, slotted front and rear brake rotors, HKS boost controller and Ralliart gauges. An Alpine audio system with amplifiers beneath the front seats and a boot-mounted subwoofer has also been fitted.
The car was imported into Australia by Evolution Imports in March 2008 and purchased by the current owner in May of that year, who advises they have been its only Australian owner. The seller further advises that the car has always been garaged and has not been raced. Servicing during their ownership has been carried out by specialists including Race Torque and Tokyo Motorsport in Western Australia, IS Racing in New South Wales and Stay Tuned in the ACT. The original Japanese service book remains with the car, with the most recent oil and filter change completed approximately 500 km ago.
The seller notes minor stone chips and scratches to the underside of the side skirts, together with minor wear to the driver’s seat. The black grille and bonnet mesh have previously been repainted and the carbon fibre section of the rear spoiler has been re-cleared.
Included with the vehicle are the toolkit, Japanese service book, two sets of keys including one with the factory remote, original camshafts and cam gears, original dump pipe, coil packs, fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, new Project Mu front brake pads, original front door speakers, a comprehensive collection of parts and servicing receipts dating from 2008, car cover and car bra.
