This 2008 Ducati 1098R is a one-owner, low-mileage sports bike presenting in very good condition. Power is supplied by a naturally-aspirated 1198cc four-valve, four-stroke engine that sends 134kW and 134Nm to the rear wheel. This bike has a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently shows 5600km. The Ducati 1098 was manufactured for just three years between 2007 and 2009, and in three distinct variations. First came the 1098, then 1098S, and finally the 1098R.

Each successive revision provided Ducati the opportunity to fine-tune the sports bike – usually these improvements were informed by the Italian manufacturer’s motorsports efforts. The styling is penned by Ducati’s Giandrea Fabbro, who included horizontal-set headlights, an unintegrated exhaust system, and a single-sided swingarm. Upon release, the Ducati 1098 famously held the title for having the highest torque-to-weight ratio of any production sports bike. It campaigned in the World Superbike Championship, ridden to a championship title by Australian Troy Bayliss in 2008. The bike has won numerous ‘Bike of the Year’ awards around the world and it continues to be highly regarded today.

This example is painted in classic Ducati Red and it features white accents. The various bronze and carbon components catch the eye whether the bike sits static or is being ridden on the road. The owner has fitted a full Termignoni 70mm polished exhaust system with carbon mufflers. It rides on a set of 17-inch Marchesini wheels shod in Pirelli Rosso Corsa II tyres. This bike was manufactured in Italy and delivered new to Australia through Ducati Adelaide.

It was purchased new by the current owner. Maintenance has historically been completed by Paul Martinello at Ducati Adelaide, though it has been also been serviced by Justin Wilmott and most recently by Blair Barrie in May 2024. It currently has no mechanical faults or issues, according to the owner. In terms of presentation, this Ducati 1098R appears in fantastic order. The paintwork glosses nicely in the light and no obvious imperfections are seen in the finish.

The seller notes some small stone chips, such as on the 1098R script on the right-hand side. However, even carbon-fibre elements show without scratches or chips. Some light weathering is seen on the mirrors. There is no obvious deformation of the seat. All accompanying documentation will be supplied with this bike.
